God's Word, The Bible - The Absolute Truth!
Men
perish with whispering sins--nay, with silent sins, sins that
never tell the conscience that they are sins, as often with crying
sins; and in hell there shall meet as many men that never thought
what was sin, as that spent all their thoughts in the compassing
of sin.

1 Corinthians 15:1-2 Moreover, brethren,
I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you,
which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; {2}
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what
I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
What
is "the Gospel"? The word we translate "Gospel"
actually means "good news" or a "good message".
When
Jesus Christ came to this earth His main mission was to
spread this good news, this Gospel, where ever He went
(see Matthew 4:23; 9:35; 26:13). Jesus said that the Gospel
had to be preached to all the nations (Mark 13:10) before
the end of time would come. The disciples of Christ -
those saved by faith in this Gospel - were to take the
Gospel that saved them and go out and tell others this
Gospel (Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:19-20).

John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life: and he that
hath not the Son of God hath not life.
Conservative
Christians were shocked - and upset - when the President
of the United States remarked that "we are no longer
a Christian nation". I don't believe that the President
was trying to put down Christians, but I do believe that
God's Church needs to wake up and realize that there is
a great deal of truth in what he said. Our country was
founded by Christians - Pilgrims - and became independent
under the leadership of a number of godly Christian men.
The basis of our legal system is found in the Ten Commandments
of Exodus chapter twenty. The Ten Commandments are - in
fact - inscribed on the walls of the Supreme Court of
the United States, a testament to this great truth. Being
found upon Christian principles our country has always
sought to avoid various state religions. Christians do
not believe that people can be won to Christ at the point
of a sword. True believers came to this country to escape
the persecution that state controlled religion always
brings. We were founded Christian, and therefore believed
that every person had the inalienable right to choose
- or not choose - Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. No
one is forced into a relationship with Jesus. The Scripture
- and the Christian - loudly proclaim whosoever will.
He that believes on Jesus is not condemned in the sight
of God: but he that will not believe is in a state of
divine condemnation, because he has not believed in Jesus
Christ, the Son of God (John 3:18). ...

John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father
hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called
the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us
not, because it knew him not.

3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
A
man came home from work one day and, terribly tired,
he forgot and left his keys in his car. When he
came back out sometime later he found that his car
was gone - apparently stolen. The man, distraught,
called the police, made a report, and then went
back into the house grumbling to himself. Later
on that night the man ...
God responds in love to His praying, repentant
people.
“In times like these we need a Savior,” goes the
words of an old familiar hymn. When you think about
it, there has never been a time when the world did
not need a Savior.
Nehemiah,
the cup bearer for the king, was very much aware
of the fact that suffering people need a Savior,
i.e., a deliverer. Sinful people need a Savior.
Someone who can forgive them for their sins. He
also discovered that in order to be successful,
people need a Savior.
In
this great prayer of the Bible, a prayer of Nehemiah,
three ideas surface concerning the people of God,
and remind us of the things for which we need to
pray.
I.
GOD’S PEOPLE SOMETIMES SUFFER - Suffering people
need to pray, and prayers of intercession need to
be made on behalf of suffering people. After learning
of the Jewish remnant who survived the Babylonian
exile, Nehemiah intercedes on their behalf. The
words of Scripture reveal that which has gone on
before Nehemiah takes his request to God......

I
began to enjoy history more when I learned the difference
between a historian and a history buff. A history
buff learns names and dates, thinking he is learning
history. He is only learning trivia. A historian
studies the movements, the underlying causes, the
significant changes over a period of time. Since
I have left school and the history buffs, I have
developed an enjoyment for history. I have two areas
of historical interest. One is the local history
of where I live and the second is the Revolutionary
War and the early days of our nation. In particular,
I have enjoyed learning about the spiritual side
of the founding of our nation. With that in mind
let me share with you some thoughts about America
and the Hand of God.
Lets begin with a quote from John Wingate
Thornton, who wrote only 85 years after the Revolution.
Focusing on the political and economic reasons
for the Revolution, to the exclusion of the religious
forces at work, distorts history

I
want to give a quick review of the last message. We
saw that ideal servant was like a loving brother. He
reminds them of the adversary that we have- Satan. Satan
is at war with us and since he cannot see us go
to hell, he wants us to be miserable. He is
the first that you say was miserable and misery
loves company. He will work through our own
countrymen to cause us to suffer. As I said
last time, we dont have the reality of real
suffering facing us yet but we may. In the
present political climate, it is a real possibility
to do us. I quick gave three thoughts about
suffering that I feel must be said again. It
is possible that we will suffer for our Lord. It
is important to remember a few thoughts in regards
to this.
1. Jesus
said we would suffer. John 15:20 ...
